has worked in public education for the past 36 years. She was a bilingual
teacher for 9 years and a principal for 13 years at both elementary and middle
schools. Prior to coming to Socorro in July 2004 as Assistant Superintendent for
Elementary Schools, Anna Lisa worked various positions at Region 19 as the
Migrant Director, District Liaison and Program Manager for Bilingual/ESL. She
was also the Center Director for the School Administrators Skills Assessment,
providing professional development for beginning and veteran principals in the
region. Anna Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education
and her Master of Arts in Teaching from New Mexico State University. She is
married to Richard Peña and together they have three children, a daughter, two
